HI! I'M HOLLY! :)
I'm from Trinidad & Tobago but I live in Florida, USA. Ever since I was a kid, I had a love for fine art. Arts and crafts was my favorite class, but I also excelled in math and science.
I chose to pursue a career in nutrition and dietetics because it seemed more practical at the time and I had a profound desire to learn more about the impact of nutrition on disease as I was battling some gastrointestinal issues during that time.
Currently, I work as a clinical dietitian in a hospital with critically and chronically ill patients. Working through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic brought on a lot of stress and mental fatigue, so I turned to painting as a form of stress relief.
I've dabbled in various forms of art (crocheting, making bracelets, pottery, drawing, card making), but painting is my favorite. I love the process because it's very welcoming and very forgiving. I love using an assortment of colors in my work and I love dot patterns because it elicits happiness, play, and fun.
I use heavy body acrylic paint and I paint on acrylic paper, canvas pads, and canvas.
My work features the use of lines, dots, and splatter, to show flow and fun, as well as bright and vibrant hues of pink, blue, yellow, green, and white. I use all of the colors of the color wheel and my work isn’t complete until most of the colors are present.
I love creating abstract paintings because I'm in full control of the composition and I get to create what I feel or what I want to feel. Through my paintings I like to convey the feeling of healing, inspiration, child-like play, freedom, peace, joy, and happiness, because of my own desires to feel all of those things, and we could all use more of that in these trying times.
Sharing my artwork with you is my constant reminder that you can invite peace, calm, love, joy, whatever you want to feel, into your life, at any time.
I truly hope you love my work as much as I love creating it.
